A catch-all mailbox receives emails sent to non-existent addresses under the same domain name. For example, an email sent to the mistyped suport@domain.com will be delivered to support@domain.com if the catch-all feature has been activated for the latter. Thus, you can get email messages from colleagues or clients who may have sent a message to your email address with a spelling mistake or to an obsolete one, which they may still have, but you have already disabled. Only one mailbox per domain can be a catch-all one and email forwarding cannot be set up for such a mailbox. The latter is due to the fact that at some moment you may start receiving spam email messages in the catch-all mailbox and the forwarding limitation implies that the spam will not be received in a 3rd-party mailbox.
Catch-all Emails in Shared Hosting
Configuring a catch-all email mailbox will be amazingly easy if you’ve got a Linux shared hosting package with our company. You can enable the feature through our advanced, yet simple-to-work-with Email Manager tool, which is an essential part of the Hepsia Control Panel, via which you will manage your account. You will find all the email addresses that you’ve created shown in alphabetical order and on the right-hand side of each one of them there will be a small "Catch-all" icon, which will instantaneously show you if a certain mailbox stores all the messages for a given domain name or not. With one click on the icon you can activate or deactivate this option whenever you wish. In case there’s activated email forwarding or in case some other mailbox has already been configured as a catch-all one for a specific domain, you’ll get a warning note from our system. The latter won’t deactivate/replace anything automatically and without your consent.
Catch-all Emails in Semi-dedicated Hosting
The in-house developed Hepsia Control Panel that comes with each semi-dedicated server package that we offer will allow you to create a catch-all mailbox without effort even in case you don’t have much web/email hosting experience. All it takes to achieve that is to click on the catch-all icon, which will be to the right of each mailbox that you’ve created with your domains in the hosting Control Panel’s Email Manager section. Since you can have just one single mailbox with this feature per domain name, our system will let you know if you have already configured another catch-all mailbox or if the one that you’d like to use has email forwarding enabled. If you decide that you don’t need the feature anymore, you can remove it by clicking once again on the very same icon. The Email Manager will also allow you to view your catch-all mailboxes at a glance.
